Paesano Pizza, Glasgow

I’ve been a long time fan of Paesano, and I remember my first pizza here fondly! I thought I’d come back and revive this post and add a few extra details to include new things I tried after that first visit!

Paesano was the first REAL pizza place in Glasgow. They offer a true and traditional Napoletana range of pizzas and are the proud owners of Artisan-built wood-fired ovens from Naples which cook their carefully crafted pizzas using their own special 24-hour proved dough.

The menu seems limited, but you can tweak the pizza to suit yourself enjoy a range of delicious pizzas. I will explain now to save you any confusion – the menu has ‘evoo’ written on most items. Despite working in ASDA as a student and seeing that acronym almost daily, I didn’t recognise it and opened my mouth to utter the question “What’s evoo?”

Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

DUH Sharon.

The first photo was taken during my first visit (check out the difference in the camera!) and we ordered a pizza topped with fresh Tuscan fennel sausage with tomato sugo, mozzarella and EVOO in addition to the pizza I ordered again during this recent visit, pictured below.

The second pizza was topped with roasted red peppers with spinach, tomato sugo, mozzarella, ricotta and EVOO – and I added some mushrooms and the Spianata spicy salami straight from Calabria, which had a nice kick to it.

The pizzas are a generous size and absolutely delicious. I was starving, so I was happy to tuck into a couple of their delicious sides! On a normal day, the Pizza is a full meal in itself for me!

Fresh ricotta with EVOO & oregano

This was so light and fresh – it’s the perfect dish to pick on before, during and after your pizza and the ricotta tasted amazing on the crusts as well as with the onions below.

Balsamic onions

I loved these so much! As regular readers will know I love pickled ANYTHING, so these were a posh alternative. I could easily eat them solo, but a hearty dollop of the ricotta was perfect with these!

Paesano’s pizzas and sides are both beyond delicious and every tome I go, I can never believe the bill. It’s so cheap, especially for the quality. It’s always at the top of my ‘go to’ list!
